The governing candidate in the Dominican Republic's presidential election, Danilo Medina (PLD), has declare victory. On Sunday May 20th, Dominicans around the world came out to elect a new president, who will replace current president Leonel Fernandez (PLD).
Although speculations were that the opposition candidate Hipolito Mejia (PRD)
had the majority of the country on his side, the disappointment of his
lost was heartfelt by his supporters. The results are being contested by
the opposition, which accuses the governing party of buying votes and
other forms of fraud.
Election Results:
PLD 51.21%
PRD 46.95 %
